New Borrowing Policy effective July 18th


Library membership is free to anyone who lives in Innisfil year-round, owns property in Innisfil, works or attends school in Innisfil, or owns/runs a business in Innisfil. 
In order to obtain a library card, bring one piece of identification containing proof of current address to any branch of the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library.  
The Library has reciprocal borrowing agreements with New Tecumseth, Bradford West Gwillimbury and Essa Township.  Residents of these municipalities are also eligible for free membership with proof of residency.
Proof of school attendance or of employment within the Town is required for free membership for non-residents.
Non-Residents Fee
Membership for non-residents is $50 per household, per year.

Replace Lost or Stolen Cards
If you lose your library card, let us know as soon as possible and we will freeze the lost card.  Visit any branch for a $5.00 replacement card.  Call any branch for assistance:

Innisfil ideaLAB & Library has a large collection of books, DVDs, digital resources, video games, and magazines you can borrow for free.
Go to our website to browse through our Library Collections.
Customers may make suggestions for purchase for those items that we don’t carry.  Please visit staff at the information desk for more information.
If  Innisfil branches do not have the book you want, we may obtain them free from other Ontario library systems through interlibrary loans.   Please ask staff for more information.
A $1.00 charge per item will be levied for inter-library loans not picked up.  Inter-library loans may not be requested multiple times in succession.

Placing a Hold
You may place holds on nearly all library materials. We will contact you by phone or email when items are ready for pick-up. We will keep your items on hold for one week. We will hold Video Games, Blu-ray and DVDs for 2 days, not including days the library is closed. If you do not pick up your holds, they are passed on to the next person who has put them on hold or returned to the shelves. If you are unable to pick up your holds within the time period, you may request the items again.
A $1.00 charge per item will be levied for inter-library loans not picked up.  Inter-library loans may not be requested multiple times in succession.
Most library materials may be renewed three (3) times. Video Games, Blu-ray and DVDs may only be renewed one (1) time.
All library materials must be returned before closing time on the day they are due. 
High demand materials, such as best sellers, magazines and school project resources, may be restricted to loan periods of less than three weeks.
DVDs are renewable once for a total loan of up to 2 weeks. 
All print books are renewable three times for their full loan period for a total loan of up to 9 weeks for books without holds.

Login to your online account with your library card number and PIN.
To Renew at the Library
Bring your card to the library and use the self-checkout machines to renew or visit staff at the information desk.
You will NOT be able to renew if...
there is a hold on the item
the item is a NEW book
you have reached the maximum amount of renewals
if you have more than $25 in late fees
Library service is free for anyone who lives or works in Innisfil, unless materials are returned late, damaged, or lost.
Materials returned in the drop boxes after closing on the due date are subject to fines. For further information regarding fines, please consult Schedule B  within the Borrowing Policy.
A $1.00 charge per item will be levied for inter-library loans not picked up.
Overdue Fines 
The maximum overdue fee for a single item is $5.00. Overdue fines are only calculated on days when the library is open. 
Books, CDs, magazines: 
NEW $0.25 per day, per item 
Video Games, BluRay & DVDs: 
$1.00 per day, per item 
Interlibrary Loans: 
$0.25 per day, per item
Overdue Notification
You are responsible for returning library materials on time. If you do not return materials your account will be charged and you may not be able to use library services until your fines are paid.  If you are set up for email notification, as a reminder, you will receive a pre-overdue notice three days before your due date. Please speak with Library staff if you are interested in activating email notification for your account.
Lost or Damaged Materials 
Lost/damaged materials are billed at rates established by the Innisfil Public Library Board. Payment for lost or damaged materials is NOT refundable. Please do not purchase replacement items  as  they will not be accepted by the library.
Returning Library Materials
Return branch materials to any Innisfil branch location. Items are due by the time the branch closes on the due date and will be considered late if returned after hours. 
Please return only Library Express material to the Library Express unit located at the Innisfil Recreational Complex. 
If the library is closed, please drop your items in the drop boxes located at each branch.
